Factory Operative

We have an exciting opportunity to join our client based just outside of Soham as a Factory Operative.

As a Factory Operative you will be grading and packing raw material and ensuring that all customer requirements are met alongside ensuring that all production and quality procedures are always adhered to.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Trimming raw material to customer specification
  • Packing and stacking trays of packed product, checking quality as you go
  • Cleaning the production areas as you work or elsewhere as required
  • Assisting with product changeovers to ensure downtime is minimised
  • Ensuring you understand the required specifications for production, seeking advice if unsure.
  • Follow manual handling and lifting guidelines at all times.

Additional Requirements

  • Experience within a similar role
  • Familiarity of working in a warehousing/production environment
  • Team player
  • Ability to work independently, but with support from our teams, gaining responsibilities fast

The Role

Operations Manager

Our client an exciting new development based just outside Ely is looking for an Operations Manager to join their team managing all aspects of operations to achieve the required standards of Health and Safety, product quality, operational efficiency, cost control, yield, and customer service.

The Role

Managing projects as required by the business requirements and will be involved in key discussions of strategic nature on an ongoing basis. Specifically responsible for Growing & Harvesting; working closely with the management team, HR, Health & Safety and Technical departments.

Main Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance and practical application of Health and Safety policies and legislation, whilst developing/ maintaining a strong Health and Safety culture.
  • Develop and implement an annual business plan with the senior management team managing deviations and adjusting where required.
  • Establishing, implementing and directing the vision of the organisation.
  • Ensure that all operational quality systems are maintained, updated, and implemented throughout both plants and that all employees are aware of their responsibilities.
  • Optimise overall operations and establish appropriate controls and measures from KPI’s such as product yields, labour costs and productivity, area/function efficiencies etc management and implementation of bonus schemes where applicable.
  • Lead the production teams ensuring successful and consistent profitable growth and ensuring the expected levels of performance are met or exceeded.
  • Work with the management team to reduce downtime whilst ensuring tight process controls are in place to optimise product quality and efficiency.
  • Lead and drive cost saving initiatives as an ongoing part of continuous improvement.
  • Ensure all employees are aware of their roles / accountabilities, that training is provided to meet these.
  • Coordinating internal logistics in collaboration with Planning & Logistics team(s).
  • The control of the daily work preparation.
  • Forecasting weekly crop yields.
  • Weekly/monthly reporting as required for management meetings.

Our Client, based in Waterbeach, is looking for a factory operative to join their team. Your main function will be to perform routine production tasks, setting up tanks and raw materials, so that product be prepared and processed according to the manufacturing procedure and the final product packaged.  

Key Tasks

  • Prepare batches & load into allocated vessels
  • Monitor batches during heating process
  • Follow procedures process material through plant
  • Maintain a clean and tidy working environment
  • Ensure all materials and tools are stored correctly
  • Check quality of manufacture, material and packaging

The successful candidate will be a good team worker and communicator and be physically fit.

This is a long-term temporary role working on a weekly rotating shift basis: early shift from 5am to 1pm, Monday to Friday, late shift from 12.30 to 9pm Monday to Thursday and 9.30 to 3.30pm on Friday (37.5 hours per week).
